What is The Cosy Post?
The Cosy Post is an independent reference for UK homeowners considering insulation upgrades. We publish plain-English research on cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, external wall insulation, solid wall insulation, and related grants and schemes.
Our goal is simple: answer the question you actually have, with the real numbers, without making you read a salesman's brochure disguised as advice.
How we research
Every article is AI-researched and human-reviewed. We use Claude (by Anthropic) to gather data from primary sources, structure the content, and draft the prose. A human editor then verifies every factual claim against the cited source, checks the numbers, and edits for clarity and tone.
We cite every factual claim to a primary source:
- gov.uk for grant schemes, building regulations, and government policy
- Energy Saving Trust for cost and savings estimates
- BRE (Building Research Establishment) for technical guidance and standards
- Ofgem for energy prices
- ONS (Office for National Statistics) for housing stock and demographic data
If a claim doesn't have a citation, assume we forgot to add one and email us at hello@thecosypost.co.uk.
Commercial independence
We don't accept paid placements in articles. We don't run affiliate links to specific installers. We don't accept payment from manufacturers or suppliers to feature their products. If we recommend a grant scheme or eligibility checker, it's because it's government-backed or widely used, not because we earn a commission.
This site is funded by its operator. There are no ads, no affiliate links, and no sponsored content. The trade-off is that we publish slowly (expect 1-2 new articles per month) and we don't cover every niche topic.
Who writes this?
The Cosy Post is operated by a UK-based individual with an interest in home energy efficiency and a background in software and research. We're not a trade body, an installer, or an energy company. We're not surveyors or building professionals. We compile and explain publicly available research. For specific advice about your house, you need a proper survey from a qualified installer.
Errors and corrections
If you spot an error (a wrong figure, a broken link, an out-of-date grant threshold), please email hello@thecosypost.co.uk. We'll check it, fix it if you're right, and update the article's last-modified date.
We update articles when government schemes change, when energy prices move, or when new research is published. Check the "Last updated" date at the top of each article. If an article is more than 12 months old and references specific grant amounts or energy prices, treat those figures as historical.
Privacy
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and privacy-respecting. It tells us how many people visit each page, which pages are most popular, and which search engines send us traffic. It does not track you across other sites, does not sell your data, and does not build a profile of your browsing history.
We don't collect email addresses, we don't have user accounts, and we don't run marketing pixels. The interactive tools on article pages (eligibility checkers, calculators) run entirely in your browser. Your answers are not sent to our server or stored anywhere.
